    Foods 1

    A 10 unit elective course designed to give students experience in home and occupational homemaking skills in the area of food, sanitation, and nutrition. The course teaches students to understand good decision making skills, basic concepts of nutrition, food preparation, use and care of equipment, kitchen organization, purchasing food, and the relationship of nutrition and physical fitness to good health. Fulfills 10 credits of the high school graduation requirement for electives.
     

    Foods 2

    A 10 unit elective course that explores food preparation beyond basic concepts. A wide variety of dishes from around the world, informal and formal dinners, hors d'oeuvres through desserts, and proper planning procedures will be explored. At the completion of this course, students will be able to plan, shop, cook, and present aesthetic foods, plus pass a practical exam.Fulfills 10 credits of the high school graduation requirement for electives. Prerequisite: Successful completion of Foods 1
     

    Child Development & Guidance/Family Living

    A 10 unit elective course designed to prepare individuals to understand the function of a family, factors that affect individuals, and the ways to build healthy relationships. Parenting skills, prenatal development, child growth and development, guidance and discipline, health and safety issues, along with the value of play and learning activities are covered in this course. The Baby Think it Over program is also implemented in this course. Fulfills 10 credits of the high school graduation requirement for electives.
