    English Language Development I
    10 Units
    An English Language Development class designed for the student who needs to improve his or her fluency in the acquisition of the English language. Students are placed in a course designed to reach each student at his or her level of fluency in the English Language (RL 0-2.6). All activities are research-based and geared to address the standards as set forth by the state of California. One goal of this class is to help students reach proficient scores on various tests, including: CELDT, CST and CAHSEE. Another goal is to help students develop both critical and creative thinking skills. Students will also be assisted in building an interest in reading for life-long enjoyment. Writing is taught throughout the term in order to enhance student effectiveness in sharing experiences, acquiring effective communication skills, and gaining confidence in self expression. Fulfills 10 credits of the high school graduation requirement in English. Does not meet the Language Arts requirement for admission to the UC/CSU system (A – G Requirements)
     

    English Language Development II
    10 Units

Another goal is to help students develop both critical and creative thinking skills. Students will also be assisted in building an interest in reading for life-long enjoyment. Writing is taught throughout the term in order to enhance student effectiveness in sharing experiences, acquiring effective communication skills, and gaining confidence in self expression. Another goal is to help students develop both critical and creative thinking skills. Students will also be assisted in building an interest in reading for life-long enjoyment. Students are placed in a course designed to reach each student at his or her level of fluency in the English Language. One goal of this class is to help students reach proficient scores on various tests, including; CELDT, CST and CAHSEE. Another goal is to help students develop both critical and creative thinking skills. Students will also be assisted in building an interest in reading for life-long enjoyment.
