Student Study Teams
When a child is struggling in the classroom, the parent or the student’s teacher may request a student study team. The team is organized by the school counselor and meets to discuss the student’s needs and ways to address them in the classroom. Parents are invited to attend and strategies are discussed to help the student. After implementing the agreed to strategy, the team will meet again and determine if the intervention was sufficient. If the intervention is successful, then the team will continue to provide the needed support. If not, then they will attempt another intervention or refer for evaluation for a 504 or an IEP.
