Know Your Rights

Knowing your child’s rights ensures they can attend school safely, learn without fear, and be treated fairly. Understanding these protections helps you take action if your child faces discrimination, harassment, or bullying. Reading Appendix G empowers families to fully participate in education and protect their child’s well-being.

New parent/guardians should receive a welcome text and/or email from ParentSquare.  The email directs you to create an account and verify your contact methods.  Your child(ren) will automatically be linked to your account, and you will be able to receive school communications that pertain to your child(ren). 

If you did not receive a ParentSquare welcome message, you may contact your child(ren)'s school or download the app and register using the contact information (email or phone number) you provided to the school. Login to ParentSquare

Aeries is a parent-friendly online tool, available as both a website and a mobile app, that helps you stay connected to your child's education. It gives you real-time access to important information like grades, assignments, attendance, report cards, and test scores. You can easily track how your child is doing in school and see if they’ve missed any classes or assignments. Rights of Parents and Children
PROCEDURAL SAFEGUARDS AND PARENT RIGHTS

This information provides you as parents, legal guardians, and surrogate parents of children with disabilities from 3 years of age through age 21 with an overview of your educational rights, sometimes called procedural safeguards. This notice is also provided for students who are entitled to these rights at age 18. (20 USC 1415; EC 56321) A copy of these safeguards will be given to you once a year. Additional copies may be given upon an initial referral or parent request for evaluation, upon the first occurrence of the filing of a complaint under Section 615(b) (6) of H.R. 1350, upon provision of an assessment plan to parents and at your request. You may elect to receive this notice and other notices required under this section by an electronic mail (e-mail) communication.
